What’s the spread on the Super Bowl

by admin on Apr.09, 2009, under Uncategorized

With the biggest football game of the year approaching fast, everyone’s asking “What’s the spread on the Super Bowl?” What exactly is a “point spread” ? Keep reading-it’s simpler than it sounds!
To explain, we’ll use the upcoming Super Bowl between the Cardinals and the Steelers. The oddsmakers are the ones deciding a team’s chances of winning, and setting odds accordingly for those betting. Information used includes team records, past matchups, player injuries and much more. In the upcoming Super Bowl, the oddsmakers have determined that Arizona is the underdog. Additionally, they think Pittsburgh will win by at least a certain number of points. Let’s say the “spread” is set at 6.5. That means that the Steelers are expected to win by minimum 6.5 points.

Imagine you bet on the Steelers. If the Steelers win, they must win by at least 7 points(it rounds up)for you to win your bet. If you place a bet on the Cardinals, you may win your bet, even if the Cardinals lose. If the Cardinals lose the Super Bowl by less than 7 points, you win! Sports betting is really much easier than you’d think, and it adds extra fun to the game when you have a bet on it!
